It's about time Tavares was recalled. She has been the worst mayor and deserves to be unemployed like the thousands of Maui citizens who have lost their jobs due to her draconian measures.

I will be very happy to see the Queen knocked down. Her administration has been poor at best; I will especially be happy to see her cronies gone.
With her gone, maybe we can have a more functional administration that possesses the knowledge and insight on how to run a county and not KILL small business. Besides, its not like we see her now anyway - I can do without seeing her at the Parade and Rodeo. Aloha Ms. Tavares.
Hey maybe once your major job disappears, you are welcome to come and work at the restaurant. We'll have room for your "Directors" too!

It's time to send a strong message to our elected officials. You are supposed to represent us, not your cronies and not big business. The popuolation of Maui is overwhelmingly pro small business (TVR's, weddings, ocean activities)and you have ignored us, lied to us, cheated us, and destroyed families who can no longer afford to keep their homes. Auwe... It's time for change and the new guys who get elected need to take a lesson. After we recall the mayor, we need to recall the county council members who also lied to us.

You people are a joke. If you have a problem with the economy, why don't you watch the T.V. news and read the newspapers across the nation and the world. The blame being the overpaid bastards & bitches on Wall Street is obvious. If you people find Maui such a bad place to live maybe we'd all be better of if you all went back where you came from.

We love our home and would not want to leave. Why is it that Republicans don't accept that things can be better if we dare to hold elected officials accountable? Please don't ask us to leave because we have a difference of opinion, it just demonstrates your intolerance to anybody not just like you. The fact remains, Tavares lied, she is hurting vast majority of the kamaaina and she needs to be relieved of her duties. The Maui news poll today shows 55% in favor of recalling her and another 12% in favor of her resigning. I suppose you want all 67% of us to leave!

In this day and age, we really need a Mayor that truly listens to the people that hired her for this important job.
We need someone who is fair minded and truthful. We need our Mayor to be in the public eye and not hide away and arrogantly act like she doesn't even care to hear what constituents have to say. Most of all we need a leader who embraces Maui's cultural differences of today and not just of yesterday. Our Mayor needs to work with the community as a whole. Our mayor needs to participate wholeheartedly in keeping our island ohanas protected economically. We need to work TOGETHER not separately. We need a true Leader!!
It is time to recall this Maoyr. HER..ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN HER WORDS!
We need a Mayor that has energy for the future and
fairness, concern and care for ALL. Pono!

Mayor Traveres has acted like a bull in a china closet in the way that she carries out her "duties".
Upholding a law that should have been ammended was not such a great idea. Think what a splash she would have made if she could have gotten a system for vacation rentals that regulated the business so as not to upset the neighbors. That is what all of us in the business had been promised and were waiting for. Instead it was the first of her many moves that were (like I said) similiar to a bull in a china closet.
I hope it was worth it to her to be in with the big business/ special interest because it seems her name may go down as one of the worst as Mayor.

Yes I agree that she should be recalled. Her decisions have created such hardship for so many of us locals and the newcomers as well. The entire administration has been crippled by her lack of leadership. Let us pray that when she is gone, that we have someone ready willing and able to take on the tough issues and GET THINGS DONE!! It's about time. It feels like the current administration is the quicksand, and we are all slowly sinking beneath the surface. HELP US PLEASE!!!
